In politics they call it the “Big Mo.” If a candidate for public office can develop the momentum, they can very likely expect to win the campaign. The effect of this momentum is that the candidate gets talked about by opinion leaders, the media, and among people at the grassroots more than the other candidates. It also usually means the candidate can raise more money to pay for staff and advertising. What makes momentum work is that it continues to build over the campaign often making the candidate unstoppable.
God has given Ratio Christi momentum! In February 2011 we became an independent organization with 12 apologetics clubs on university campuses. Now at the end of 2011, we have over 60 chapters and more interest than our small staff can handle. We have had exposure all over the Internet, have had several national level Christian media interviews, and have had the opportunity to coordinate and work with many of the leaders in the apologetics and worldview movement. Our supported missionary program has gotten off the ground with an opportunity for Christian apologists to make a living. From very small beginnings God has allowed Ratio Christi to have a significant impact this year. The lives of university students are being changed. If this were a political campaign, I would say we have "The Big Mo.”
So what does Ratio Christi need to keep up with this momentum?
I hate to tell you this…but we had to try to slow down the growth of Ratio Christi because we don’t have the staff to handle it. I don’t think that is what we should be doing. We need consistent monthly revenue to pay for enough staff to handle all the growth and support work necessary to keep up with the demand for this vital ministry. To be very frank, Ratio Christi might have many more chapters and be doing more on university campuses to Defend Truth and Christianity if we had the necessary funding for staff. We accept that God's timing is perfect, but I think 2012 could be the year we grow to over 200 chapters. Please help us take advantage of this opportunity.
If you want to become a part of this momentum, there are two things you can do. First, become a monthly supporter. We appreciate any gift, but we need to have a consistent revenue stream to meet monthly obligations and pay for the staff to handle this momentum. If you can afford $2 per month, or $20 per month, that is great. If you can afford $2,000 per month, we need it. Second, consistently tell others about Ratio Christi and ask them to sign up for our newsletter so they will know what is happening.
