You Have to Get EPS on Your Calendar for Next Year
Rick Schenker, President
Ratio Christi
I attended my first meetings of the
Evangelical Philosophical Society (EPS) in San Francisco and Berkeley this month. This was actually TWO tremendous events for apologists. First, there was the day time
Annual Meeting of EPS in conjunction with the
Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) in San Francisco. The EPS track at the day time event had some of the best lectures and scholarly training that I have ever been to. Then there was the annual
EPS Apologetics Conference held during the evenings in Berkeley.
The list of presenters was like a “Who’s who” of apologetics including; Francis Beckwith, Paul Copan, William Lane Craig, Gary Habermas, Craig Hazen, Greg Koukl, Mike Liconia, J.P. Moreland, and Dallas Willard, among others.
Ratio Christi had a vendor table and a breakout session at the evening apologetics conference. We picked up several leads for apologists wanting to start new chapters, but the most exciting thing was the number of students interested in helping start our new chapter at UC Berkeley. Wouldn’t it be ironic if UC Berkeley, the bastion of liberalism, actually had the largest Ratio Christi chapter in the country?
Blake Anderson and I had many great conversations during the entire week. One that stands out in my mind was a lunch with Greg Koukl and his team at
STR. Over sushi, we discussed how we might work together to further the apologetics movement. We are excited about what God is doing and Ratio Christi counts it a privilege to be able to work together with so many dedicated individuals and organizations promoting a reasonable faith.
Please, place a hold for this conference on your calendar next year. The 2012 Conference will be held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin about mid-November. And remember, the National Apologetics Conference in Charlotte will probably be held in late October or early November. These are two vital events necessary for all leaders in the apologetics movement. See you there.
