The Reason Rally, sponsored by the country’s major secular organizations, will be held on March 24, 2012 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. According to www.ReasonRally.org, “nontheists from all corners of the nation will descend on Washington, D.C. en masse to deliver the good news: ‘We’re huge, we’re everywhere, and we’re growing.’”
Event speakers include:
Dr. Richard Dawkins (author of The God Delusion), Adam Savage (cohost of The Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters), Dr. PZ Meyers (professor of Biology), Dr. Lawrence Krauss (astrophysicist and cosmologist), David Silverman (President of American Atheists), plus many other advocates of the “New Atheism”
Ratio Christi, along with some other groups and campus ministries, are planning on attending the rally to interact one-on-one with skeptics and atheists in attendance, conduct surveys, engage in dialogue, and present the Christian view in a well-reasoned and respectful manner. This trip does not involve street preaching, tract distribution, or blind faith.
This is a one day trip. A charter bus is leaving from UNCG at approx. 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning and will return at approx. 11:59 Saturday night. Space is limited and will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. Please read the remaining information in its entirety, and scroll down to purchase your ticket.
There will be two mandatory training sessions for all UNCG participants. The dates and times will be decided soon (they will be in late February and early-mid March). Failure to attend the training may result in an inability to attend this trip as this is a mission trip into the "lion's den" so to speak.
It is HIGHLY encouraged that UNCG participants attend Ratio Christi meetings on Monday nights at 7:00 for additional study and preparation. Meeting details can be found at http://www.ratiochristi.org/uncg.
In addition, it is also HIGHLY recommended that participants read "I Don't Have Enough Faith to Be an Atheist" by Geisler and Turek. Purchase and download options for the book can be found at http://www.impactapologetics.com/i-dont-have-enough-faith
Also, as with anything like this, please pray. While we are promoting a reasonable faith and offering well-reasoned responses to questions, we also believe that the Holy Spirit works through our reason to draw people to Himself. Please bath this event in prayer and ask others to do the same.
Mondays 7-8:30pm EUC Sharpe
